Green Workforce Development
The A Train to Sustain program provides comprehensive green job training to build an inclusive infrastructure of skilled professionals to meet the demands of the emerging green economy. Train to Sustain courses teach practical and concrete solutions in order to prepare workers to achieve economic efficiency along with environmental sustainability.
Energy Efficiency Training will greatly benefit those looking to enter the green collar workforce. Our courses provide the tools for the building industry professional to develop skills that can meet the demands of a new energy economy.
We work with a broad coalition of nonprofits, public and private partners that value programs and projects that are committed to creating sustainable green jobs.
Certifications
The Building Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI) is a nationally recognized standards and credentialing organization for residential energy efficiency retrofit and Weatherization professionals. BPI has developed comprehensive standards for home performance contractors and affiliations with local training organizations. BPI is a key component of several state-level Weatherization assistance programs, PACE financing and national Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program. Through our training program (with an emphasis on hands-on field training) you will receive the knowledge, skills and confidence that are prerequisites for successful work.
Who We Are
A Train to Sustain is the training program administered by REAS Inc. As an affiliate of the Building Performance Institute (BPI), REAS offers a high-quality training program to prepare students for BPI certification to address the growing demand in the marketplace for home performance.
REAS is a multi-disciplined consulting, auditing and training organization. Our extensive expertise in Energy Efficient Building Analysis focuses on auditing, design and rehabilitation. REAS provides cost-saving energy solutions for owners and agencies with planning and implementation of energy-efficient technologies, water conservation and renewable energy systems. REAS consultants are LEED APs, HERS, BPI and GreenPoint Rated Professionals and a licensed general contractor.

What We Do
Our activities include:
> provide comprehensive classroom and field training courses that prepare students for BPI testing to participate in programs and RFP's that are increasingly requiring nationally recognized certifications for energy auditing
> schedule and instruct student field mentoring sessions in order to practice protocols and testing procedures in a "real world" setting and prepare for field certification testing and proctoring for the BPI written and field exams
> provide seminars to satisfy required CEU credits to present "house as a system" and building science concepts for the real estate agents, architects and various stakeholders
> provide contracted instructors and proctors to teach non-profit and municipal agencies for their training needs
> educate the building industry, policymakers and the public about the need for a strong infrastructure of building professionals that are knowledgeable about energy efficiency through building science, diagnostic testing and post-retrofit data collection
> serve as a source of information about LACEP, Home Star and Utility Incentives and programs for the community Los Angeles County Energy Retrofit Program
