Train to Sustain Classes
Seminars for Industry Professionals
A 4 to 8 hour class for CEU credits. Topics available: Energy Efficient Design; Net-Zero Energy Design; Green House Remodeling and Financing; Overview of "house as a system" approach and Home Performance Business Development.
Introduction to Energy Auditing
A 1-day 8-hour class with topics that include basic energy concepts, identification of energy efficient measures, uses of energy auditing tools, indoor air quality, overview of energy assessments and cost-effective solutions, safety and career development. A certificate of completion for this introductory course will be accepted as a prerequisite if you do not meet the requirements for the Building Analyst courses.
Building Analyst
This Training is a combination of classroom and field instruction that is based on the "house-as-a-system" approach. The course is intended for those who would like to conduct diagnostic energy audits on existing residential housing. Topics include: overview of building science fundamentals, use of diagnostic equipment to assess the following: building tightness (air leakage), thermal properties, insulation levels, structural durability and combustion safety and energy efficiency in buildings for preparation of BPI tests.
Envelope Specialist
Training includes classroom and field experience that prepares for BPI's written and field exams. Training includes a review of Building Analyst topics. The course is an overview of Health and Safety, Indoor Air Quality Assessment, Advanced Blower Door Applications, Insulation Techniques & Applications, HVAC Distribution, Air-Leakage Diagnostics, Zonal Pressure Diagnostic Testing and other topics associated with improving building envelope efficiency.
Residential Building Envelope Whole House Air Leakage Control Installer
This course provides instruction on proper installation of residential air-sealing and insulation measures. Students will learn to actually perform upgrade work involved in tightening a home to high quality standards that are required by many statewide programs.
Multifamily Building Analyst & Building Operator
Apply building-as-a-system fundamentals to diagnose problems and improve the performance of larger, more complex residential structures based on West Coast case studies.
Testing
In order to become BPI certified, students must pass a 100 question written exam and a 2-hour field exam. BPI Written and Field testing is an additional cost and passing both exams is required for certification.
Testing must be scheduled separately with Train to Sustain or with another BPI affiliate program.
Mentoring & Proctoring (package only)
2 days of mentoring & 2 hour field proctoring for BPI BA exam $950.
Mentoring sessions with a maximum of 4 people, from 8 am to 4 pm.
Equipment may be borrowed for BPI field testing for an additional $40.

Contract our BPI certified instructors and proctors for training, testing or presentations.
Instructor contracts are available with in-house curriculum or material provided.
Our training programs, curriculum and instructors have helped build the infrastructure of needed professionals through the Los Angeles Community Colleges (Pierce College and East Los Angeles College), Los Angeles City College, College of the Desert, West Valley Occupational Center, WIB's, SCE programs and the first contractor trainings for SDG&E under the Energy Upgrade California program. As a BPI affiliate we have trained over 500 professionals for BPI certifications.
